David grew up listening to the likes of Cannonball Adderly, John Coltrane, Charlie Parker, Paul Desmond, Phil Woods, Miles Davis, Sonny Rollins, Dexter Gordon, John Handy, Stanley Turrentine, Johnny Hodges  and  many great vocalists that have graced our world! 

David Polk plays Selmer Mark VI saxophones. He recorded Feel Good using a Beechler10 mouthpiece for the Alto and a 9 star B Lawton for Tenor. Dave also used Vandoren #3 reeds. (Insane)

On the c.d. "Superwind" David used a metal Beechler on Alto doctored by Mike Manning

Presently David Is playing on a Otto Link HR #7* on tenor and a Meyer #8 HR on Alto. After many years of playing Vandoren reeds David Has switched to Rico Jazz select reeds.
